Biosketch

Susie Y. Huang, MD, PhD, is a
Radiologist in the Division of Neuroradiology, Director of Connectomics and Translational MR Imaging at the Athinoula A. Martinos Center
for Biomedical Imaging in the Department of Radiology at the Massachusetts
General Hospital, and an Associate Professor of Radiology at Harvard Medical
School.  She received a PhD in physical chemistry from the University of
California, Los Angeles, and an MD from Harvard Medical School.  She has
published numerous research articles on the development, translation, and
evaluation of novel magnetic resonance imaging techniques for neuroimaging
research and clinical applications.  Her current research focuses on the
development and translation of advanced diffusion MRI methods for probing
tissue microstructure in the central nervous system.  She is an expert in high-gradient
diffusion MRI acquisition and analysis and has made significant contributions
to developing methods for resolving axonal microstructure using 300 mT/m
gradients for in vivo human imaging.  Dr.
Huang serves as the lead Principal Investigator on a $14-million NIH
BRAIN initiative multi-institutional collaborative grant to develop the
next-generation Connectome MRI scanner for multiscale imaging of the human brain.  
She also leads clinical translational efforts within the MGH Department of Radiology to validate the clinical utility and performance of fast MR imaging sequences for a wide range of MR imaging examinations. These efforts have culminated in the creation of a flagship MGB high-efficiency outpatient imaging center at Assembly Row that features fast MRI acquisitions developed in collaboration with Martinos Center physicists, MGH radiologists and Siemens collaborations scientists for comprehensive evaluation of the brain, spine, musculoskeletal system and body.
